Outage Update

4/29/24

8:45 pm

We have approximately 893 reported meters without power. Restoration is a slow but steady process with the amount of damage we have to our territory. It takes strategic planning and effort to restore power. Crews have to find the issue first, get to the issue which sometimes requires special equipment, then remove trees, limbs, and debris from the area before crews are able to begin the process of getting the lines back in the air.

As stated in our previous update, please prepare for a multi-day outage. We will start bringing crews in for the night around 10 p.m. for some much needed rest and they will be back to work before the sun is up tomorrow morning. Their rest is crucial to restoring power SAFELY.

As always, thank you for your patience.

4:30 p.m.

As the day progressed, the linemen have found 10 additional broken poles. Often times, after a storm like we had yesterday, we start finding more damage as we are in the process of restoring power. This is why it's seemingly impossible to give an estimated time of restoration. A pole changeout, under normal conditions takes approximately 4-6 hours to complete depending on the complexity of the line build.  Unfortunately, this will be a multi-day outage in some areas especially those that had the most damage.

We have crews working in all major outage areas, but we also have linemen restoring power to isolated/single outages.

Below is a screen capture of our outage management map to illustrate how wide spread the outage is at this time.

As reminder, please do not stop to talk to the linemen while they are working. This only slows down the restoration process.

*NEVER TOUCH A DOWNED POWER LINE*

1:15 p.m.

Crews are continuing to work in all substation areas to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.  Additional crews have arrived and are working to help us restore power to our members. Below are some photos that we have received from the field. These pictures give us a better understanding of the damage.

Last night we had around 5,800 meters without power.  As of 1:15 pm today, we have 1,685 meters without power. While this number is still more than we would like for it to be, we are proud of the progress the linemen have made so far.  Thank you for your patience.

*Please remember to stay away from downed lines.*

8:15 a.m.

Crews worked through the night assessing damage and restoring power to major circuits. As of right now, we know that we have multiple broken poles and trees on lines.

Gill Members: We have a crew in the area to repair a broken cross arm and remove trees from the line.

Blanchard Members: We have a crew working to repair a broken pole and we have found several trees on the lines. We have a tree crew working in the area as well.

Longwood Members: We have a crew working the Longwood substation area and looking for the issue.  Once the issue is found, they will begin repairs.

Waskom Members: We have a crew working to restore power to American Plant Rd, Ireland Williams, Akins, and Concord Rd. We have reports of a trees down and a pole down at this time.

Keithville and Caddo Substation Members:  We have crews working to find the issue and restore power.

Again, we have lots of damage throughout our service territory and have requested for additional crews to help with restoration. So far we have identified 10 broken poles.  We appreciate your understanding and will update as information becomes available.
