Winter Weather Update

Winter has officially made its way to us. As of now, the temperatures and conditions we’re seeing are mild in comparison to what’s to come later today and tomorrow. I want to assure you that our crews and personnel are ready to tackle whatever obstacles this weather throws their way. With heavy mixed precipitation in the forecast, we urge our members to take the necessary steps to prepare for extremely cold weather.

We are working closely with SPP and monitoring current grid conditions. With your help, we can reduce the need to load shed. You can help by keeping lights off in rooms that you are not using, unplugging any devices that are not in use, running your dishwasher only when it’s completely full, minimizing use of your washer & dryer, and monitoring your thermostat if you use electric heat. Not only will this help the demand on the grid but it will also help you not use as much energy. Less energy used = lower electric bill.

Again, we are prepared for potential power outages and will execute our emergency operations plan if needed.

Stay warm and safe,
Austin Haynes
